NICN Dental Infection Control Summit

Join the us for the 4th Annual Dental Infection Control Summit!NICN is excited to provide 6 hours Infection Control Continuing Education covering standard precautions, PPE, environmental cleaning and disinfection, sterilization and dental unit waterlines. We also have 2 afternoon tracks that are specialized for employee health/ antibiotic stewardship and sterile technique in the dental setting. 

Course Information:

Basic Infection Control in the Dental Setting (Morning Session):

  • Introduction to essential infection control practices in the dental setting including standard and transmission-based precautions, environmental cleaning and disinfection, sharps safety, instrument reprocessing, and dental unit water lines.

  • Course Outcomes: Participants will be able to identify essential infection control practices to include standard and transmission-based precautions, environmental cleaning and disinfection, sharps safety, instrument reprocessing, and dental unit water lines.

Employee Safety in Dentistry and Antibiotic Prescribing in the Dental Setting (Concurrent Session - Track A):

  • Introduction to OSHA’s employee safety requirements and antibiotic prescribing guidelines surrounding pain and swelling and antibiotic prophylaxis in the dental setting.

  • Course Outcomes: Participants will be able to describe how to create a safe workplace for their employees according to OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen’s Standard and utilize antibiotic stewardship tools to promote appropriate use of antibiotics to improve patient outcomes.

Sterile Technique in the Dental Setting (Concurrent Session - Track B): 

  • Learn how to identify when a sterile field is necessary in addition to managing the sterile field to ensure patient safety.

  • Course Outcomes: Participants will be able to identify when a sterile field area is necessary and how to set up and manage a sterile to ensure patient safety.
